137-year-old Amish barn from Pennsylvania has a new life inside a model home in the Horse Creek community of Fort Myers. Builder Dan Dodrill, owner of Daniel Wayne Homes, used the wood from the historic barn to create unique focal points inside the new Palm Beach model.
Something on special Sanibel
The three-story light blue house with darker blue shutters sits on half an acre of land. Strict building codes on Sanibel created challenges that sparked a creative design. Since the bottom level cannot be used for living space due to flood codes, and the top has height restrictions, builder Dan Dodrill, of Daniel Wayne Homes, came up with a unique solution.

Designing New Florida
Landscape architect and urban designer Matthew Horton and veterinarian Lura Jones decided on modern Florida vernacular for their new home — a style echoing the wood-framed, turn-of-the-1900s originals with wide porches but with modern finishes and interiors. The home was built by Dan Dodrill, founding principal of the 25-year-old custom home building firm Daniel Wayne Homes.
